Support Forum - Adding a Logo

Question:
I see no ability (in the demo that I have anyway)for the user to include a Logo.
 Is this because there isn't one in the initial report that is shipped with the
demo?
That is: Can the end-user add a Logo to the header on-the-fly?
Thanks
Ron M.

Ron,

I assume your logo is an image file on your/user hard disk. As you can see using my demo program, FRB can show images in the report (see the "Products overview" report). There is an appropriate frame in the Detail band. The frame contents: "=PRO:PictureFile" and "Contents - image file name" property is selected . As long as the frame contents is beginning with "=" sign, the rest is interpreted as formula to evaluate (just like in Excel). In such a way it is possible to show images when image file name is stored in the database field or some global variable. When you'd like to add a Logo, just specify image file name without preceding "=" sign.

Hese are the steps required to add a Logo to the header on the fly:

1. Create new frame in the header;
2. Open frame properties dialog (double-click on the frame or right-click and select Properties or use main menu);
3. Make "Contents - image file name" property selected;
4. Press the "Name search" button (or F2 key) - standard Windows filedialog will be opened;
5. Select any image file from your hard disk using this dialog;

Now you have full path and file name specified in the frame contents. This image file will be shown as Logo in the report.

Thank you,

This is where the problem starts.

If you move your application (& fominreports) to another disk,(e.g. from C: to
F:) the spot in your report where you want to have your logo remains empty.

How do you solve that "path-problem"?

Solvation for "path-problem":

before adding image file to your report copy that file to the directory
containing the report, add logo as Oleg described, but after adding it remove
everything from the path to the file except file name.

After moving entire app the logo will still be shown on the report.
